Project Future was a 3-year project begun in as a partnership between the Jefferson County Public Schools and Futura Plastics and Engineering, Inc., Louisville, Kentucky. The project targeted the workplace basic skills of plastic injection molding production workers.
The skills classes improved the general education of the workers with instruction in mathematics, reading, writing, English.

This document contains 12 units of study for a competency-based workplace literacy program, developed by Jefferson County Public Schools in Louisville, Kentucky, for a local plastics and engineering company.
Each unit covers between two and nine. NDS Tasmania has worked with providers between and to carry out the actions of the Workplace Literacy Project. The need for this work was identified as part of the Disability Workforce Innovation Network Project Future Workplace Literacy Project book.
It was considered an important workforce development focus in preparing for the requirements of the NDIS workplace. Funded in Tasmania by 26TEN, NDS worked with disability.
Project Details. The Literacy Project is examining the workforce literacy needs of the workplaces of the future. Workplaces are said to be in the middle of a ‘fourth industrial revolution’, following the earlier transformations brought about by steam, electricity and digitisation.
Workplace Literacy Workplace Education Quick Facts 1 out of 3 Canadian employers experience basic skills-related problems with their workforce, yet less than 1 out of 10 employers are involved in literacy programs or referrals to programs.
A special project is also underway, the Imagining Africa’s Futures project, funded by the OCP Foundation of Morocco, is providing an exceptional opportunity to conduct prototype testing of UNESCO’s Futures Literacy Laboratories.
This effort builds on the 60+ Labs UNESCO has co-designed and implemented over the last seven years. Literacy and numeracy programmes help workers with the reading, writing, maths and communication skills they need for their jobs. Boosting these skills has benefits for everyone: better productivity for management, greater job satisfaction for workers, and savings in time and effort for supervisors.
